It was a hard phone call to make, the one to my travel agent to postpone my 17th trip.  In the meantime I’ve decided to keep the post up, with the hope that the world will right itself soon. Until then, stay safe and healthy everyone!!!!

With a little less than 4 weeks out, the suitcase is open and the adrenaline is pumping. Stocked with work stuff, clothes and surprises I am already imagining an amazing trip. This process never gets old, in fact it gets better every time. Nigeria leaves that impression on you, you just want to go back for more.

Months ago I asked Suru to plan our itinerary and every day I seem to add a little bit more. Visits, meetings, celebrations. Can it all fit? I keep asking and he keeps saying yes. “But of course that depends on the traffic” he adds. Lagos traffic! There’s nothing like it. Thank god I love the people I’m in the car with.

So here’s what it looks like so far. Meetings at The Ministry of Education and The University of Lagos, visit to Tomaro to check in with all my kids, checking out the possibility of a new project at Makoko, meeting with new partnership organizations,  teaching literacy and delivering new electronic technology to the teachers at The Ireti Girls Primary School, Dream School Foundation administrative meetings at our new office and the commemoration of two new schools in Tohon. Kim? Did I leave anything out?

Twelve days to do it all!! My Nigerian family is always telling me to build rest days into my calendar. Rest? I’ll rest when we’re stuck in 8 hours of traffic. I don’t think so! The Chief has a whole new slew of car games for us to play to reclaim her honor.
